Here are the buildings uploaded to Google’s Cities In Development since my last post. All I have to say is I wish Jake would have added the pig!

London, England

Battersea Power Station, London

Description
Battersea Power Station stands at 113m high making it the tallest building in Wandsworth. The building was completed in 1953 and still is the largest brick building in Europe. The building was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed the Tate Modern and the British Red Telephone Box! Power generation at the station ceased in 1983 and the building began to fall into disrepair and dereliction. However work began to reconstuct the Power Station in May 2005. The building was famously on the front cover of Pink Floyds Album, Animals, where a large inflatable pig was attached to one of the four chimneys!

Looks like we have another city added to Cities In Development. The folks at Google have been busy. Let’s all welcome Milwaukee Wisconsin! Schemiel, Shomazel, Hossenferrer incorportated! (at least I think that is how “it” goes!)

Milwaukee Wisconsin

Chase Tower - Milwaukee WI

Description
The Chase tower is a highrise building right by the Milwaukee river in the downtown area of Milwaukee . The building is one of the shorter highrises in Downtown Milwaukee with a height of 282'. Milwaukee is one of the great treasures of Wisconsin with just about 2,000,000 people in it's main metro area , but not many people know that Chicago's metro area and Milwaukee's metro area have started to grow together sort of . So technically , Milwaukee and Chicago combined has over 11,000,000 people in the area . Other great artists on Google sketchup should help me model Milwaukee , because it is really a magnificent , yet kind-of small , but major city .Go to http://www.emporis.com , and then type in Milwaukee WI to find a complete list of buildings there .

Milwaukee Art Museum

Description
The history of the Milwaukee Art Museum dates back to 1888, when Milwaukee was a thriving port city. Peoples from different regions of Europe came to Wisconsin with their varied art and design styles. The Milwaukee Art Society developed and the first art gallery was designed and built. Later came the Milwaukee Art Institute, and in 1955, a new building was designed by Finnish Architect Eero Saarinen. It can be seen to the north of the current Milwaukee Art Museum design, which was designed by Santiago Calatrava after he was chosen as architect of the new project in 1994. It started groundbreaking in 1997 and was completed in 2001. The Quadracci Pavilion, the name of this expansion, was Calatrava's first building in the US. Model created by Zach Moore.

Model of US Bank – Milwaukee

Description
The US Bank is currently Milwaukee's tallest building . Towering at 601 feet , the US Bank building is constructed mostly of glass and steel . There are 42 floors of the building which is located along Milwaukee's lakefront . What's cool is the architect of this building , Fazlur Khan , who constructed the Sears Tower and Hancock center in Chicago which is only 40 miles away from Milwaukee (that is to the outer suburbs).

Faison Building

Description
The Faison building in Milwaukee WI is the second tallest building in Milwaukee . The building is a marvelous modern version of German architecture . The building is located right next to the Milwaukee River rising 549 feet above ground.

Kilbourn Tower

Description
Luxury living to the max ! This is a luxury apartment on the East side of downtown Milwaukee WI on the lakefront . The Kilbourn tower was the tallest apartment in Wisconsin when it was built in 2005 , but the University Club Tower ,an apartment building built right next door to the Kilbourn Tower , surpassed it .
