Description
Das neogotische Rathaus wurde Ende des 19.Jhdt. von Ludwig Winter gebaut. Sein Turm dient als Hintergrund für "malerische Szenen" des Burgplatzes. Der im 2.Weltkrieg zerstörte Ziergibel über dem eingang wurd nicht wieder rekontruiert.

Description
[CAT] L'edifici de l'Ajuntament de Barcelona té el seu origen en una casa que s'adquirí el 1369, de la que es conserva encara la façana gòtica (1370-1402) al carrer Ciutat. El pati interior data del s. XVI, mentre que la seva façana principal, de Josep Mas i Vila, és molt posterior (1831-1847), de quan s'urbanitzà la plaça de St. Jaume. Els nous edificis, a la plaça de St. Miquel, es construiren entre el 1958 i el 1969, amb decoracions de l'escultor Josep Maria Subirachs. *** [ESP] El edificio del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona tiene su origen en una casa que se adquirió en 1369, cuya fachada gótica (1370-1402) se conserva todavía en la calle Ciutat. El patio interior es del s. XVI, mientras que su fachada principal, de Josep Mas i Vila, es mucho posterior (1831-1847), de cuando se urbanizó la plaza de St. Jaume. Los nuevos edificios, en la plaza de St. Miquel, se construyeron entre 1958 y 1969, con decoraciones del escultor Josep Maria Subirachs. *** [ENG] The City Hall of Barcelona originates with the adquisition of a house in 1369, the Gothic façade of which (1370-1402) can still be seen in carrer Ciutat. The inner courtyard dates back to the 16th century, while the main façade, by Josep Mas i Vila, is more recent (1831-1847), from the times when plaça de St. Jaume was projected. The new buildings, in plaça de St. Miquel, were built between 1958 and 1969, and decorated by the sculptor Josep Maria Subirachs.

[CAT] Aquesta plaça és el centre de la vida política barcelonina, ja que s'hi troben els edificis de la Generalitat de Catalunya i de l'Ajuntament de Barcelona (no representats en aquest model). El seu aspecte actual l'adquirí entre el 1824 i el 1848, quan s'enderrocà l'església de Sant Jaume i es féu lloc per una nova plaça amb l'obertura dels carrers Ferran i Jaume I. ***[ESP] Esta plaza es el centro de la vida política barcelonesa, puesto que en ella encontramos los edificios de la Generalitat de Catalunya y del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona (no representados en este modelo). Su aspecto actual lo adquirió entre 1824 y 1848, cuando se derruyó la iglesia de Sant Jaume y se dejó espacio para una nueva plaza con la obertura de las calles Ferran y Jaume I. ***[ENG] This square is the centre of political life in Barcelona, as in it we can find the buildings of both the Generaltat de Catalunya and the City Hall (no shown in this model). Its appearance dates back from 1824 to 1848, when the church of St. James (Sant Jaume) was demolished to leave place for a new square as Ferran and Jaume I streets were being opened.

Traveler's Tower

Description
Construction on Traveler's Tower was completed in 1919 and was designed by Don Barber. At the time it was the tallest building in New England and the first commercial building outside of New York to rise above 500 feet. It stands at 527 feet with 24 floors. In the daytime it flashes a red beacon for air traffic, and at night is lit with white light. The Travelers Tower observation deck is open to the public on weekdays from May through October, free of charge. For more information, call 860-277-4208 or 860-277-0111.
