Description

> L’historique 1982 : Francis Bouygues décide de faire construire un nouveau siège social pour le Groupe. La ville nouvelle de Saint-Quentin-en- Yvelines est retenue : parce qu’elle est bien desservie par la SNCF, le RER et le réseau autoroutier, pour sa proximité avec l’ancien siège situé à Clamart (96% des collaborateurs ont suivi), pour le coût (global) de l’opération: à l’époque, le prix du m² sur Paris ou La Défense est de 4 800 €. Challenger revient à 2 200 €. février 1983 : après avoir reçu près de 120 propositions à la suite d’une consultation internationale, Francis Bouygues retient le projet de Kevin Roche et y associe le cabinet français Saubot, Julien et Overcash. septembre 1985 : après deux ans d’études et d’évolution du projet, les premiers bétons sont coulés. 1987 : le bâtiment principal (l’Atrium) est livré en juin, prêt à recevoir le mobilier et les équipements informatiques des postes de travail. Les deux Triangles Nord et Sud sont livrés en septembre. 4 janvier 1988 : 2 800 collaborateurs s’installent dans leur nouveau siège social. 26 juin 2006 : Les collaborateurs de Bouygues S.A. quitte Challenger pour s’installer au 32, avenue Hoche dans un nouveau siège conçu par K Roche et JM Wilmotte et construit par Bouygues Construction. Challenger reste le siège de Bouygues Construction et de l’ensemble de ses entités.

[CAT] El Palau de la Generalitat, seu de la Presidència, és dels pocs edificis medievals que segueix sent seu de la institució que el féu construir. El palau gòtic té el seu orígen en la remodelació (1410-25) del conjunt de cases contígües que s'havien adquirit al call jueu des del 1400 i que s'amplià (1531-37) respectant-ne l'estil gòtic. A diferència de la resta de l'edifici, la façana principal de la Plaça de Sant Jaume (1597-1619) és d'estil renaixentista. *** [ESP] El Palacio de la Generalitat de Catalunya, sede de la Presidencia de la misma, es de los pocos edificios medievales que sigue siendo sede de la institución que lo hizo construir. El palacio gótico surge con la remodelación (1410-25) del conjunto de casa contiguas que se habían adquirido en la judaría desde 1400 y que se amplió (1531-37) respetando el estilo gótico. A diferencia del resto del edificio, la fachada principal de la Plaza de St. Jaume (1597-1619) es de estilo renacentista. *** [ENG] The Palace of the Generalitat de Catalunya, seat of its Presidency, is one of the few medieval buildings still hosting the institution that had it built. The Gothic palace appears after the restructuring (1410-25) of a series of adjacent hoses that had been acquired in the Jewish district since 1400 and expanded (1531-37) keeping the Gothic style. Differing from the rest of the building, the main façade in Sant Jaume Square (1597-1619) is of Renaissance style.

El edificio tiene 88 metros (288 ft) y 22 plantas.

Throgs Neck Bridge

Description
The Throgs Neck Bridge was designed by master bridge builder Othmar Ammann and was constructed between 1957 and 1961. It carries Interstate 295 over the East River and connects the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx with the Bayside section of Queens. The bridge's main span is 549 meters long and the both side spans are 169 meters long. The whole length of the bridge including the curved approaches is just over four kilometers. The deck is 28 meters wide and carries six road lanes. It is suspended from two 58 centimeter thick cables that consist of 10,952 individual wires each. The suspension cables are held up by to 110 meter tall steel towers and are anchored from both ends to huge concrete blocks.

The Legislature Annex Building

Description
Built in 1953, 12 stories, 53m/173', 9500 sqft floorplate. From Emporis: Only six floors when originally built, the top six floors were added from 1963 to 1964. Originally built by and for Alberta Government Telephones, the building was sold to the province in 1966 when the company outgrew even the six floor addition. Leader of the now defunct CCF party, Elmer E. Roper dubbed the building the "Green Monster" upon opening in 1953. He bitterly complained it ruined the view of the legislative grounds with words such as "eyesore" and "architectural monstrosity". 9718 - 107 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta

Rexall Centre

Description
Rexall Centre is the main tennis court for the Rogers Cup men's ATP Masters Series and women's WTA tour event in Toronto. It is located on the main Keele Campus of York University. Built in 2004, it seats 12,500 spectators.

1 Bloor East (old proposal)

Description
1 Bloor East was a proposal by Nastapoka Holdings to develop a 60-storey residential tower with offices and a cinema at the intersection of Yonge Street and Bloor Street in the Bloor-Yorkville area of Toronto. Designed by Young & Wright Architects. The proposal was approved by Toronto City Council in 2002, but was never built.

Toronto Pearson International Airport Old Terminal 1

Description
The now-demolished former Terminal 1 (also known as Aeroquay 1) served Toronto Pearson International Airport between 1964 and 2004. Designed by John B. Parkins, the modernist building was the first circular airport terminal in the world. It was demolished to make way for the new Terminal 1 as part of the redevelopment program at Pearson.
